Fernbank Farm: A Spectacular Transformation During the Winter Season

As the winter season settles in at Fernbank Farm, we have been hard at work making significant updates and improvements to our beloved wedding venue. From enhancing the ambiance to optimising functionality and aesthetics, our goal is to ensure that every couple's special day is an unforgettable experience and that we continue to update and maintain our award winning site.

1. Illuminating Elegance: The New French Lights In our Arbour area. we have recently installed stunning French lights that radiate elegance and charm. When these lights are lit up, they create a magical ambiance that sets the stage for a romantic and enchanting wedding celebration.

2. The Enhanced LOVE Sign: Our iconic LOVE Sign, available for hire, has received a delightful makeover. Adorned with new beautiful green and white silk flowers, the sign now exudes a sense of freshness and natural beauty. It serves as a perfect backdrop for capturing timeless memories.

3. Bar Area Revitalisation: A Fresh Facade To enhance the aesthetics of the Barn Bar Area near the Somersby Pebble & Games area. We have installed a new deck and a Bar window. This revitalised facade not only adds a touch of sophistication but also provides a functional space for guests to relax and enjoy their favourite beverages.

4. White Sustainable Floristry Package: Our popular White Sustainable Floristry Package has undergone a refreshing transformation. With new designs added, we aim to offer an even wider range of options to couples seeking eco-friendly floral arrangements that embody elegance and natural beauty.

5. Embracing Sustainability: Building on the success of our LOVE Sign, we have introduced another sustainable Floristry Package in a charming combination of white and green. This package captures the essence of nature while maintaining the classic and romantic feel of our venue. Stay tuned on our Instagram page for upcoming visuals of this exquisite package.

6. Improved Accessibility: Ensuring ease of movement for our guests, we have installed new stairs near the landing by the dam. Additionally, a new ramp has been constructed at the front of the marquee, creating a more spacious and welcoming entryway.

7. Arbour Beautification: We have dedicated considerable effort to clearing out foliage near the Arbour area and replaced it with lush turf. This transformation not only unveils the majestic paperbark trees but also provides an idyllic backdrop for breathtaking wedding photos near the tranquil lily pond.

8. Garden Maintenance and Upgrades: As custodians of Fernbank Farm's natural beauty, we have conducted extensive maintenance on all our gardens. From meticulous mulching to major hedge updates and thoughtful pollarding of trees, we ensure that our grounds are pristine, vibrant, and ready to provide a picturesque setting for unforgettable weddings.

The most beautiful and stunning place you could ever dream of having your wedding!

My partner and I are over the moon with the experience we had at Fernbank Farm.

From the moment we booked, Esther was extremely reliable and professional in all her dealings with us and made us feel so at ease with the organisation and lead-up to the big day.

I absolutely HATE planning and organising things and Esther went above and beyond to cater for exactly what we wanted, taking away so much stress on the big day. Nothing was too much to ask of her and I honestly don’t know how to thank her enough for making our wedding day more than we could’ve dreamed of.

With so much included in our package, it left very little for us to have to organise on our own.

We stayed on sight the night before and night of our wedding and the accommodation and facilities exceeded our expectations.

The old heritage house was so beautiful to stay in!

With its natural beauty, touched up with beautiful and elegant stylings by Esther the venue was absolutely perfect!

Our guests had the most amazing time and raved about the venue and how impressed they were afterwards.

I would hands down recommend Fernbank Farm to anyone out there searching for the perfect venue, it will not disappoint.

“We have nothing but positive feedback to share on the way you guys helped us and dealt with the whole Covid situation.

You were always available to talk over possible options that we had with the changing restrictions, you had endless options for indoor and outdoor weddings, solutions to the restrictions on people, the restrictions on dancing (with pool games, etc) and you just made us feel a lot less stressed about whether or not our wedding would be the day we wanted.

Talking to you guys about our plans each time the restrictions changed made us confident that no matter what the restrictions were on the day, you guys would make sure we had the best wedding ever - and we really did! We also loved that we were able to come out and visit the venue to check out new styling options etc. And the back up wet weather option was beautiful too so we weren't worried about the weather at all (other than those floods that threatened to put an end to our wedding the week before).

On the floods, you always kept us updated on developments with power restoration and opening roads and we always trusted that you guys had every interest in making our wedding day happen.

It honestly felt like you would move heaven and Earth to make our wedding day happen as best you could with the Covid restrictions.” <3

Amy & Harleys Spring Wedding

For the first time this year Fernbank Farm saw our custom designed Arbour flower with what was the most gorgeous bloom of purple wisteria & no better time for that of Amy & Harely’s wedding on the 6th October 2018.

Marie-Claire & Jakes Magical Day

It all began on a beautiful Summers day, the horses were adorned in their custom bridals and the flowers were hanging from our rustic chandelier under the Fig Tree. 

The Lake Edge was set with our long marquees, flowers hanging from the rafters and fairly lights strung on the beams making for what will be a magical evening!

The Bride was happily dressing in our Heritage House Bridal Suite and everything was coming into place....

It all sounds too good to be true and its almost as if I'm about to talk about a great wedding catastrophe but nope...the day was a perfect day...one we at Fernbank were very glad to be a part of.

Yvette & Karls Aerial Wedding

OOOOO Where do I start!

What a day this was and a wonderfully talented (and flexi) couple to share these special moments with so I'm just going to make a big list of all the cool things that happened on the day :)

1. The beautiful bride rode up on horseback to meet her groom after an Aboriginal smoke ceremony was performed.

2. There was a Unicorn Cake and I don't mean the sort of cake you would find at a children's party...I mean an amazing sculptured cake by Cakes by Kyla

3. Karl brought his amazing Cube (as per below) for all the gymnasts to play in!

4. Mr Goaty Gelato serving gelato for the guests during games

5. The bride Yvette ordered customised laser cut name tags which looked amazing on the tables

and the list goes one!!!!!

Prudence & Jack Swing into Marriage

A stunning (and very hot) sunny day greeted Jack and Prudence for their wedding at Fernbank Farm. Their two very dapper little boys led the procession in chino's & suspenders with Prue's bridesmaids in elegant black fish tale cocktail dresses.

There were garlands of greenery by the brides sister which looked amazing and a cute little idea by the bride for a menu display on one of our vintage mirrors.

The birds were out amoungst the cute vintage props placed around the property and it was just such a pretty day that went off without a hitch ;)

Amy & Adam Amazing Picnic Wedding

Sophie & Corey's Treat filled Wedding

Date: 21st January 2017

Over a year has passed since Sophie & Corey were married at Fernbank Farm and sometimes photos slip through the cracks only to appear in your inbox to the most amazing reception.

I spent most of this morning perusing through some of the most stunning photos of Sophie & Corey with almost a little tear of joy in the eye and just had to share!

This event had so many moving parts and wonderful elements firstly with the bride was picked up by our beautiful Landau carriage with her father in traditional kilt and escorted to The Fig Tree.

Elegant flowers hung from the branches by The Botanical Workshop and Bagpipes Matthew from All Seasons Bag Pipes welcomed the Bridal Party to the ceremony.

Sophie & Corey then broke from tradition to cut their cake prior to the reception serving a quaint high tea during the break between ceremony and reception which wasn’t the only treat for guests.

Six piece band Vibe Wedding Band filled the venue with classic songs which was only interrupted by speeches and the fun jingle of the ice cream van arriving to serve guests a cheeky ice cream for a second dessert.

You will agree that the photos are another visual treat by the very talented and sought after Lauren Campbell which are featured through this little blog.

Gemma & Marks "Tropical Paradise"

Date: 2nd December 2017

I want to talk about a "Wise Bride" - what I mean by this is a woman who understands there are just certain elements out of ones control and there is no point worrying about those elements. Gemma was exactly that, "wise", on what was one of our wettest weddings for 2017. 

With the forecast looming gloom and doom right before the ceremony we pushed through and crossed fingers, toes and anything that goes, in the hopes that the rain would hold off long enough for Gemma & Mark to have their ceremony in our Arbour. 

Guests arrived and grabbed a brolly, quickly took their seats to save their butts from getting sloshy (if it rained) and Mark and his groomsman awaited with sprinkles coming and going teasing us into a state of "should we stay or should we go"... "i dunno!"

The decision came down to the bride, as she glanced at the sky casually saying "yes, lets move everyone" and pops back inside with the girls to grab a glass of bubbles to calm the nerves and save the hair whilst we moved all the guests to a safe, dry ceremony space. 

Low and behold the music starts, the bridesmaids' travel down the stairs handing over their brollys at the start of the isle and the beautiful Bride enters The Pavillion just in time. THE HEAVENS OPEN and the rain commenced in a what could be described as a musical shower to open the first lines of the ceremony "WELCOME EVERYONE, to Gemma & Marks Wedding" ...pssshhh...sssss...splish...splash...THAT WAS LUCKY!

Fitting for a tropical wedding where the day is hot and the afternoon is wet and steamy the wedding was drenched in an array of beautiful tropical inspired flowers by Justine Rose. Orchids, Lily Leaves, Palms and a mix of white florals and greenery draped through the Marquee in the most divine fashion.

Tim took the bridal party into our shed for what could be described as a new age "Old Sydney Town" style shoot and wow what photos...too many great ones to share (but heres one below)...the champagne was poured under the pouring rain, lots of laughs and muddy shoes (and paws from the puppies) guests stomped their way through to canapé's in the dance marquee, the rain cleared and there we have it a stunning, rain glistening day and a happy couple celebrating their love :)

Congratulations Mark & Gemma, it was a pleasure to share in your tropical day and we wish you all the best with your marriage ;)

Kaysha & James - "A pop of colour"

As a wedding stylist, brides come to me with so many ideas or sometimes none at all. It can be perplexing, daunting finding your wedding style and one can get lost in the "pinterest sea" for days without food or sleep only to be left feeling confused and a little off course...

That is where I (your personal stylist) come in...I can't help you with the "pinterest dilema" (its sometimes super fun to waste hours looking at beautiful wedding ideas) but what I can suggest (after years of styling weddings) is the same advice I gave to the lovely Kaysha when she was working out her look for her and James's wedding...

Add a "feature colour" or what I call a "pop". Its massively on trend to do all whites, neutrals and greenery but everything is already wonderful and green at Fernbank. Whilst our gardens feature certain flowers like Jacaranda's, Roses & Lily's they don't bloom throughout the entire year

so...

When I get photos sent to me from weddings the ones that seemingly make the most impact are the ones that have a little accent of colour. It helps draw the eye to focal areas and gives everything a little more contrast, it doesn't have to be a lot of colour, just a subtle glimpse to make things "pop".

I simply loved the highlights of colour in Kaysha's bouquet, on the tables and matching lippy, its pretty, warming and a nice little highlight to a wonderful day.

Sammy & Chris Marry at Fernbank Farm

Date: 28the October 2017

Sam & Chris can only be described as "the sweetest bottle of bubbles" - their kind, excitable and warm personalities were an absolute pleasure to meet and be a part of such a special memory.

The day starts off with the normal Hair & Make Up for the girls and the boys have been fishing for the last day in our lake catching Bass & Perch galore. Before the ceremony starts Sam is picked up by two gentle giants Leo and Lola in our Landau Carriage and escorted to The Fig Tree where Chris nervously (but excitedly) awaits. A little hicupp with a rude driver beeping his horn and speeding past the horses doesn't stop the special moment with Tina our driver shaking her head ( or possibly giving the bird)  and calmly collecting Sam's steads for the journey.

There are tears of joy & many sweet moments enjoyed under the grand canopy of the Morton Bay Fig Tree and hip hip hooray Sam & Chris are now man and wife.

The rest of the well weathered day was spent playing games by the lake and eating scrumptious food supplied by Eden Catering in the Majestic Marquee. The dance floor was awoken at around 8pm with a gorgeous couples dance choreographed by My First Dance Co and the night concluded under the twinkles of sparklers.

What a wonderful day and what a beautiful couple inside and out! Thank you to all the vendors and efforts of staff for making the event so enjoyable :)
